This beautiful weather has found me outdoors more than usual for March, which inspired me to compile a list of some of my favorite parks and outdoor activities the in the Lake Norman Area. Whether you’re an avid golfer, are looking to try a new class, or just enjoy a beautiful walk around the lake, the Lake Norman Area has something that will get you healthy and active. I hope to see you out and about enjoying all of the great amenities that our area has to offer!

Bailey Road Park – Cornelius Bailey Road Park encompasses over 57 acres located off Highway 115 at the corner of Bailey Road. The park provides a variety of recreational opportunities and site amenities, including two lighted soccer fields and a football field. There are also three lighted tennis courts, as well as two lighted baseball/softball fields. Other amenities include outdoor basketball courts, an asphalt walking trail, two playground areas with a really neat tractor and silo, and a popular nine hole disc golf course. My favorite part of this park is the recently added Band Shell which hosts a number of events during the warmer months, including the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. This is a great park for people of all ages.

Davidson Farmer’s Market – The Davidson Farmer’s Market brings together the region’s vibrant agricultural community to create a weekly event promoting local food, sustainability education, chef demos, music and more. The market is now open every Saturday from 9 Am – 12 PM and is hands down my favorite farmers market in the area. Tip: The flower vendor here has the most BEAUTIFUL bouquets!

Birkham Yoga Lake NormanMooresville – This yoga studio is the only certified Birkham Yoga studio in the Charlotte area and surrounding counties and offers classes for the burgeoning yogi or the advanced yoga enthusiast. The studio is also absolutely beautiful!

My Aloha Paddle and Surf –  Cornelius – I  always see people out on the lake paddle boarding and I have to admit, I’ve never done it, but it’s certainly an item I’d like to check off my bucket list this summer. Several friends have suggested that I use this shop in Cornelius, which offers kayak, stand up paddle board rentals, individual and group lessons. Lake Norman is an ideal location for all of these activities due to its numerous coves and no wake zones.
