This past weekend, myself, my husband Todd, and several of our friends decided to do the Davidson walking culinary tour known as the Tour de Food, which boasted sampling the finest cuisine that several local establishments have to offer and an opportunity to meet the owners and chefs for a super personal experience.  Not sure what to expect, I arrived at Brick House Tavern with an open mind and an empty belly.

Our first sampling included ribs, coleslaw, bread and a cider beverage which certainly warmed me up! Then we were off to Toast where we had bacon, raspberry/nut pancake, and roasted potatoes. Our next stop was Soda Shop which delighted our taste buds with baskets full of pimento cheese and egg salad sandwiches, sweet potato and cottage fries served with a chocolate milk shake.  Next on the tour was a stop at Fuel Pizza where we had pizza of course.  At this point I was beyond full but the smell of fried green tomatoes at Restaurant X coaxed me into giving them a try and I was very grateful that I did! At South Main Sweet Shop we were treated to a variety of decadent chocolates and then finished the tour at Campania where they served us gnocchi.

Overall this was a great tour, with lots of food and something that I would recommend to any “foodie.” Our tour guide, Teresa, did an excellent job and included lot of fun historical facts about Davidson.    Thank goodness you walk about three miles from place to place. You need it after sampling all those yummy restaurants! And yes, if you could not eat it all, the restaurants boxed up your leftovers.
